WATCH: ‘Fresh Prince’ Will Smith Borrowed Gas Money from a Fan

Whether he wanted to or not, a Fresh Prince fan came in handy when Will Smith’s car almost ran out of gas.

Smith stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night (Dec. 5, 2016) to share a story all about how the life of one of his fans got flipped-turned upside down when Smith realized that his gas tank was running on empty and that he left his wallet at home. Smith considered calling his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. It would have taken her 30 minutes each way to meet him, but suddenly, out of the blue, a guardian angel arrived in the form of a middle-aged man.

“I looked over on the other side and he was like 36 years old. I was like, ‘That dude’s a Fresh Prince fan,'” Smith told Jimmy Kimmel. “You can spot them.”

The unsuspecting 36-year-old was indeed a fan and not only lent him ten dollars in exchange for a selfie but told him to keep the money, without repayment. “He was like, ‘Dude, no way! No way—that’s yours,” recalled Smith.

Well played, sir. Well played.

Kimmel also asked Smith about his return to work on Bad Boys 3. Smith confirmed that the cast will start filming during the first few months of 2017. “Let me tell you, I love that dude,” Smith said of his co-star Martin Lawrence. “That’s among the best times I’ve ever had making movies. So I’m looking forward to it.”
