Learn How to Make Your Own Mariah Carey Holiday Candle with this DIY Tutorial

We all have those friends who can’t get enough of their favorite celebrity. Give them the gift of a celebrity face candle and you will eternally be in their good graces.

Celebuzz’s Multimedia Content Producer Mia Lardiere demonstrated how simple it is to make a customized candle on Facebook Live using tools that you can find in most craft stores on online. This craft takes minutes to accomplish and makes for a most thoughtful holiday gift without breaking the bank. For instance, this candle embossed with the image of Miss Asia Kinney in a Santa hat would make a great stocking stuffer for any fan of Lady Gaga:

White Candles, Any Size

An Embossing Heat Tool

Wax Paper

A Printer

Scissors, tape and an image that you’d like to adhere to your candle

Step One: Measure the size of your candle and, on a computer, adjust the size of your image to fit on its side accordingly using Photoshop or Pixlr. For this tutorial, we used this image of Mariah Carey and the lyric that she sings in falsetto at the end of “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” (If you want to use this image… PC users: Right-click, “Save As” to use; Mac users: Control + Click, “Save Image As”)

Step Two: Cut a piece of white tissue paper that’s the same size as the 8.5 x 11″ card stock and tape it, on all four sides, to the card stock. Set the combined piece of card stock and tissue paper into your printer so that your image prints on the tissue paper, then, print it out.

Step Three: Cut around the image, leaving only a small border, like a temporary tattoo. Discard the cardstock; keep the image on the tissue paper.

Step Four: Preheat your heat embossing tool, following the directions on the package.

Step Five: Place the photo where you want it on the body of the candle.

Step Six: Wrap a piece of wax paper around the candle with the image still in its place.

Step Seven: Gently run your heat embossing tool over the portion of the wax paper, covering every corner of the image, for about 5-9 seconds depending on how large it is. This will melt the tissue paper onto the candle. Stop if the candle begins to melt.

Step Eight: Wait a few seconds before taking the wax paper off of the candle. Your image should be tattooed onto the candle.
