Bill Cosby’s Pre-Trial Hearing Involved a Screaming Match About Witnesses
Bill Cosby’s lawyer got in a shouting match with the DA during a hearing about Cosby’s rape accusers.
A pre-trial hearing in Cosby’s sexual assault case on Tuesday (Dec. 13, 2016) got very heated after an “uncivil” exchange between the prosecution and the defense. Apparently, the lawyers argued over details regarding 13 accusers.
The actor’s lawyer, Brian McMonagle, hoped to enter two binders detailing the accusers as evidence, but DA Kevin Steele accused the defense of wanting to release details about the individuals in hopes of intimidating them before the trial. In the end, the judge in the case ruled that the women who had not yet come forward must not be named by the defense.
Although more than 50 women have come forward to accuse Cosby of sexual assault over the past few years, almost all of the alleged incidents occurred too long ago to go to trial.
Meanwhile, the 79-year-old was all smiles as he entered the courtroom with members of his legal team, and even joked with the security guards by telling them: “Don’t tase me bro.”
Cosby’s trial is set for June of next year.
