‘Flip or Flop’ Stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa Have Started Dating Other People

Tarek and Christina El Moussa are speaking out about their split after it was revealed that the HGTV couple called it quits after seven years of marriage. Eight months and an incident involving a gun later, the two are ready to talk about their shocking separation.

“We decided to separate while we reevaluated the next steps in our married life,” the Flip or Flop stars tell People. “We believed this was in the best interests of the children and the best way to determine a path forward.”

They add, “We have both dated other people following the separation, but neither of us is ready to announce anything in terms of another relationship.”

The parents-of-two haven’t been together since May 23, when police responded to a call about a “possibly suicidal male with a gun” at their California home. At the time, witnesses claimed they saw Christina run out of the house sobbing and trembling following an alleged altercation, while Tarek reportedly fled the scene to Chino Hills State Park.

Though the search for Tarek ended up involving 11 police cars and a helicopter, the couple maintain that the real estate investor, who was discovered with a gun in his possession, did nothing wrong and that his “intentions were misread.”

“Tarek was going on a hike and took a gun for protection from mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes and rattlesnakes,” they explain, adding that Tarek keeps his weapons “unloaded and in a locked gun safe.”

They also note that Tarek has agreed to turn over his gun collection to the authorities for 30 days.

Tarek and Christina currently share two children: Taylor, 6, and Brayden, 15 months.
