Here’s an Update on Ashlee Simpson’s Collaborative Album with Her Husband

In case this bit of news has been buried beneath the stockpile of pop culture headlines that have accrued since the summer, Ashlee Simpson and her husband Evan Ross are working on an album together.

At the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Holiday Celebration in Los Angeles on Dec. 13, Simpson elaborated on their album that will be happening in the new year. “It’s been really fun to work together,” she told Us Weekly. Ross added, “When you work separately, you don’t get to hang out — so this works out well.”

They described the sound of their album as “soulful, fun and reflective of music that [we] both like.” Though Simpson hinted at the possibility of a collaborative tour, the couple noted that Simpson will likely work on a solo album after the release of their project together. She said that fulfilling her duties as a mom took priority over releasing a new album after Bittersweet World. Still, Simpson and Ross intend on expanding their family in the future. “We’re doing this – before the next baby!” said Ross. “I want a ton [of kids]! I think I want more than she does! I grew up with five kids in my family, and that was great.”
