Alex Trebek paid special tribute to Cindy Stowell, the Jeopardy! contestant who died from cancer one week before her winning episodes aired on TV.

Following the late contestant’s six-episode run, which ended on Wednesday (Dec. 22), Trebek signed off with a touching salute to the late champion. “For the past six Jeopardy! programs, you folks have been getting to know the talented champion, Cindy Stowell. Appearing on the show was the fulfillment of a lifelong ambition for that lady,” the host said.

Stowell, who died at the age of 41, completed a six-day winning streak and racked up $103,801 in winnings. She vowed to donate all of it to cancer research.
