Michelle wasJimmy Fallon‘s only guest on Wednesday’s episode of The Tonight Show, during which she reflected on her experience during the POTUS’s farewell speech and gave credence to the reason why Sasha was unable to attend. She joked about Sasha’s decision to stay home to study for an exam the next morning, “You know the Obamas. ‘Girl sorry. You better take your test …You can say goodbye later,”
Michelle revealed that she cried during the last event at the White House last week because she was speaking about children, a topic that she is most passionate about. “Kids are my heart,” Michelle said. “When I think about the fact that some of them are afraid of the future, of what is to come. I don’t want them to be afraid. I want them to embrace the future and know that the world is getting better. We have bumps in the road. We have ups and downs but I want our kids to move forward — I don’t care where they come — from with strength and with hope.”
Michelle promised that she will stay involved in protecting her pet causes even after she moves out of the White House. “I will continue to stay involved with these issues as long as I live,” she said. “The fact that we have made huge strides especially in the school lunch program, which I hope does not get touched because it makes sense.”
Later on, Michelle issued a special “thank you” to her mother for her great influence on her life. “I couldn’t have done this without you, Mom,” she said to her mom. “You are my role model. You are an amazing woman, even though you don’t think you had anything to do with me,”
