It's no secret that Gwen Stefani's divorce with Gavin Rossdale was a rough one.

Though Gavin Rossdale’s 13-year marriage with Gwen Stefani is over, he still believes his wife is nothing short of “incredible.”

The Bush frontman, who parted ways with the No Doubt frontwoman in August 2015 amid rumors he was cheating with their children’s nanny, told the The Sun’s Fabulous magazine that a divorce was not what he had planned when their relationship fell through.

“[Divorce] was completely opposite to what I wanted. Really not … but here we are.” he said. “Apart from death, I think divorce is one of the hardest, most painful things to go through.”

For Rossdale, there are many things he’d like to change. Though he did not speak about the affair rumors, he did confess to having regrets about the dissolution of his marriage.

“I mean, obviously. I know we all wish that, but we can’t, so I have to deal with reality. You can’t not have regrets and be human at the same time,” he said. “There are lots of scenarios [I’d like to change].”

“We had 20 years together and that in itself is pretty incredible. It’s a lifetime,” he said of his relationship with Stefani, who currently shares custody of their three sons: Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo. “I still think she’s incredible. It was a lovely 20 years and we have three amazing children. There were a lot of positives, and with time they’ll become more and more obvious.”

As for his own love life, the 51-year-old said he’s not ready to date again. Though Stefani has been in a serious relationship with country singer Blake Shelton since 2015, Rossdale admittedly isn’t looking for anything longterm.

“I’ve so much going on, that’s not a factor right now,” he said, adding that his kids have been pressuring him to start dating. “They want me to get a girlfriend and examine me if a name pops up on a text.”
