Stephen Colbert Is Hosting the 2017 Emmy Awards

Stephen Colbert will be hosting this year’s Emmy Awards.

The exciting gig was announced in a press release on Monday (Jan. 23, 2017) that named the late night talk show host as the emcee for the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards.

“Stephen is the ultimate master of ceremonies with award-winning creative talents, and as we’ve seen the past few months, he has a fearless passion for live television. We look forward to honoring television’s best while entertaining audiences with the creative energy and sharp comedy of Stephen Colbert,” CBS Entertainment executive vice president Jack Sussman said in a statement.

Colbert added, “This will be the largest audience to witness an Emmys, period. Both in person and around the globe.”

The ceremony will broadcast live Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
