Mischa Barton Hospitalized After Police Respond to Disturbance at Her Home
Mischa Barton was transported to the hospital on Thursday morning after police were called to her West Hollywood apartment.
According to People, officers responded to “multiple calls” around 7:15 a.m. on Thursday (Jan. 26, 2017) about a disturbance coming from the actress’s home. Sgt. Duncan of West Hollywood’s Sheriff’s Department said that Barton was “fully clothed” and “speaking in coherent statements” before she willingly went to the hospital. A conflicting statement issued to USA Today from Sgt. Enrique Mandujan instead said that she “was speaking incoherently but agreed to go to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by ambulance.”
Sources told TMZ that Barton was “hanging over her backyard fence in West Hollywood and rambling about her mom being a witch, the world shattering … and Ziggy Stardust.”
“At one point she fell backward off the fence and said, ‘Oh my God, it’s over! I feel it, and it’s angry!'” the source added.
Barton opened up the mental breakdown that she previously endured in 2009 during an interview with People in 2013. After being rushed to the hospital, Barton was restrained by the staff after she tried to escape. She later threatened suicide and was committed to the psych ward for four days under a 5150 hold.
“It was a full-on breakdown,” Barton said. “It was terrifying. Straight out of Girl, Interrupted. Story of my life.”
