Kate Upton Was Allegedly Being a ‘Diva’ Over the 2017 ‘Sports Illustrated’ Swimsuit Issue Cover

Though she’s a two-time cover girl, Kate Upton may not actually appear in this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue at all.

The model’s appearance is currently up in the air after she allegedly made “diva demands” about the photo shoot, according to Page Six.

“There was drama,” an insider said. “Kate demanded that if she did the shoot, that she absolutely must get the cover. She also had a list of photographers and hair and makeup people she would only work with.”

The source added, “She was being a big f **king diva. She thinks she’s better than everyone because she’s an actress.”

According to the report, Sports Illustrated originally planned to have three cover stars for 2017 — tennis champion Serena Williams, supermodel Christie Brinkley and Upton — but is now reconsidering the latter’s appearance due to her alleged demands.

Upton, who covered the magazine in 2012 and 2013, began focusing on an acting career in the last few years. She starred in 2014’s The Other Woman and wrapped filming for The Layover, which has yet to be released, in 2015. Her other film, The Disaster Artist, is slated to premiere at this year’s South by Southwest.

A Sports Illustrated representative seemingly denied any drama surrounding the 2017 covers, telling Page Six, “It’s that time of year again. Who is in, who’s on the cover, what will they do next? Everyone has a guess, and that’s all this is.”
