Lady Gaga Tackles Super Bowl Body Shamers with One Powerful Instagram Post

Vicious Twitter trolls crawled out of their holes on Sunday (Feb. 5, 2017) during Lady Gaga’s unforgettable Super Bowl halftime show to criticize her body. Now, it’s Gaga’s turn to clap back.

Gaga issued a statement on Instagram after it came to her attention that people were making negative comments about her weight and the way her stomach looked in her costume. She posted a still screenshot from her show and wrote in the caption:

“I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I’m proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too. No matter who you are or what you do. I could give you a million reasons why you don’t need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. Be you, and be relentlessly you. That’s the stuff of champions. thank you so much everyone for supporting me. I love you guys. Xoxo, gaga”

Gaga, who announced her Joanne World Tour immediately after the Super Bowl, put in serious work at the gym to strengthen her body and its endurance ahead of her big performance on Sunday. She gave Michael Strahan a glimpse at her workouts in a pregame interview with Good Morning America.

“I work out a lot and I do VersaClimbing while I sing,” Gaga told Strahan. “I’m singing the show while I’m doing it. Because the show is full-on cardio … it’s cardio while singing.”

She even warmed up with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak in full costume right before she rocked NRG Stadium.
