“I would say he’s my boyfriend,” Carey said of Tanaka, but when the reporter cooed in response, the singer’s guard went right back up.
“But now you’re gonna make a whole dramatic thing,” Carey told the reporter. “I mean, I had it all together. I was like, ‘I’m just gonna this time so people don’t try to foil things.’ I’m just gonna be like, ‘I really don’t talk about my personal life,’ because that’s what I used to do and [in an ambiguous accent] it really worked for a minute back a while ago.”
“So to answer your question, I just don’t feel comfortable talking about my personal life,” Carey continued. “Can we just keep that private between us? Me and boyfriend don’t want to do that.”
Carey also revealed that she nearly set her dress on fire while she was shooting the music video for “I Don’t,” her latest single with YG.
“My friend Maryanne that sings background for me and lead for herself saw,” Carey remembered. “She said,”I saw that moment when the dress almost caught on fire. Did you do that on purpose?’ And I said, ‘No, no.'”
