Take a look under your chair before the next presidential election because the name “Oprah Winfrey” might just be on the ballot.
Winfrey appeared on a recent interview on Bloomberg Television’s David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations and was asked if she had any plans to run for office given her respected position among the American people.
“Have you ever thought that given the popularity you have, we haven’t broken the glass ceiling yet for women, that you could actually run for president and be elected?” David Rubenstein asked Winfrey.
“I actually never thought that that was, I never considered the question even a possibility,” Winfrey replied. “I just thought, ‘Oh. Oh.’”
Rubenstein questioned her further, silently referencing Donald Trump and his non-political background.
“Right, because it’s clear that you don’t need government experience to be elected President of the United States, right?” he asked.
“That’s what I thought,” said Winfrey. “I thought, ‘Oh gee, I don’t have the experience. I don’t know enough. I don’t…’ And now I’m thinking, ‘Oh. Oh.’”
