‘American Idol’ Alum Fantasia Barrino Cancels Concert After Suffering Second-Degree Burns
Fantasia Barrino is on the mend after a painful injury.
The former American Idol contestant canceled a performance in Memphis on Sunday (March 5, 2017) following her hospitalization for what her husband described as second-degree burns from an accident on the singer’s tour bus.
According to TMZ, Barrino was napping with an aromatherapy vaporizer near her when the machine toppled over, spilling hot water on her right forearm. The 32-year-old reportedly rolled over onto the vaporizer’s cord in her sleep. At the time, Barrino was alone.
“My wife experienced an accident today causing 2nd degree burns on her arm,” Barrino’s husband, Kendall Taylor, wrote in an Instagram post over the weekend. “So please, keep my Queen lifted in prayer, asking our God to heal her rapidly with no last negative affects. Rock Soul won’t be denied, this is simply a delay that will prove to be necessary for what’s to come.”
A rep for Barrino told People the songstress is “resting comfortably” and plans to “resume the tour in Los Angeles on Wednesday at the Microsoft Theater.”
The spokesperson added, “She thanks all of her fans for their kind messages of love and support, and is looking forward to getting back out on the road.”
