Jersey Shore gem, Snooki, is the inspiration behind a bill that will see the vote of the New Jersey Assembly on Thursday, (Mar. 23, 2017).
According to the New York Post, this legislation would prohibit public universities in New Jersey from paying their graduation speakers more than $10,000 in state money. If it is approved by the Assembly, it will be passed to Gov. Chris Christie, who will make the final decision on whether or not it will become a law.
New Jersey Republican Assemblyman John DiMaio said that he was inspired to write it after Snooki received $32,000 to speak at Rutgers’ commencement in 2011. DiMaio says that is is “ludicrous and wasteful” for state funds to go to these speakers.
