Teen Battling Cancer Dies Four Days After Receiving FaceTime Call from Beyoncé

High school student Ebony Bankswho received a FaceTime call from Beyoncé last week, passed away on Sunday (Mar. 26, 2017) after battling a rare form of stage IV cancer.

Banks spoke with Beyoncé only four days before she died. In their conversation, the singer told Banks, “I love you.”

Banks, who was known by her friends as Ebob, spent most of her senior year fighting a rare form of cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she graduated in a special ceremony hosted by her high school, Alief Hastings High School. Her classmates rallied on social media to give her the ultimate graduation present, a call from Queen Bey, using the hashtag #EBOBMEETSBEYONCE.

Candlelight vigils were held for Banks in Houston on Sunday night as Alief Hastings confirmed the news of her passing.

According to Us Weekly, Banks hoped to attend college, where she would study to become a pediatric nurse to help other cancer patients. Click here to see a clip of Banks’ FaceTime call with Beyoncé.
