Ryan Seacrest Is Kelly Ripa’s New ‘Live’ Co-Host
The long-awaited reveal was made just over a year after Michael Strahan announced his sudden departure from his seat on the show. Ripa kicked off Monday’s episode with a promising tease.
“Today, the next chapter of the Live story is about to be written,” she said. “Today, my new co-host will officially be joining me on Live. And today is a very good day.”
Before she officially introduced Seacrest, Ripa thanked the temporary co-hosts that filled in while the search for a new permanent host pressed on.
“Thanks is not a big enough word, but they took time out of their busy schedules and out of their day jobs … we all became family, and they became part of the Live family forever,” Ripa said, adding a special bit of appreciation for her audience. “You have been incredible, wonderful, supportive, patient. You have stuck with this show … you never cease to amaze me.”
Seacrest walked out with Ripa after the commercial break and was met with roaring applause.

Seacrest shared a note of excitement on Twitter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seacrest will serve as an executive producer on the show with Ripa. Though he lives in Los Angeles, Seacrest will move to New York permanently to work on Live. He will continue to work on his radio shows through iHeartRadio. A source says that the ABC building will have a new radio studio for Seacrest to make things easier. The host of everything is already slated to host Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve this year once again.
