Rob Dyrdek Mourns Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin’s Untimely Death

Rob Dyrdek remembered his beloved Rob & Big co-star Christopher “Big Black” Boykin after he passed away suddenly on Tuesday (May 9, 2017) at the age of 45.

Dyrdek shared a series of photos and tweets with his followers on Tuesday night.

“My heart is broken. I don’t want write this post. I don’t want to believe that this is reality. I am so thankful for you,” Dyrdek wrote. “We truly were brothers that lived an unexpected unforgettable adventure. I just can’t fathom that it would end so suddenly. You will forever be in my heart.”

Dyrdek also shared a photo of Boykin holding his son, Kodah Dash.

“I am so thankful for this moment,” he captioned the post. “Thank you for being an amazing human being and brother.”

Boykin became Dyrdek’s bodyguard on their reality series, Rob & Big, which ran on MTV from 2006-2008. They saw two spin-off series afterward, Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory and Ridiculousness.

MTV also released an official statement following the news of Boykin’s death.

“MTV is deeply saddened to learn the news of Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin’s passing. He was a long time and beloved member of the MTV family and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time.”

Boykin is survived by his 9-year-old daughter, Isis Rea Boykin. His cause of his death is not yet known at this time.
