‘Scandal’ Is Ending After Season 7
Sorry, Gladiators. Scandal is coming to an end.
According to TV Line, the political drama’s upcoming seventh season will be its last. The publication reports ABC executives plan to make an official announcement about the finale at the network’s upfront presentation in New York next week.
Show creator Shonda Rhimes reportedly made the call to end the series after throwing out a several storylines when President Donald Trump was elected into the White House, citing what she had initially planned for Kerry Washington and company hit too close to home.
“I used to know how it ended, and then Donald Trump was elected,” she told The Hollywood Reporter during an interview for its 100th episode. “We had a destination, and I don’t know if that’s our destination anymore.”
In 2016, it was announced the series’ current sixth season premiere would be pushed back from its usual fall debut.
