Kourtney Kardashian’s Liquid Diet Leads Today’s Star Sightings
Kourtney Kardashian is addicted to hitting the bottle, but not in the way you’d think!
When it comes to her healthy diet, the 38-year-old reality star is all about hydration. In addition to water, the mother-of-three keeps fit by sticking to beverages low in sugars — like kombucha, a fermented tea said to have a number of health benefits — and swears by banning sodas from her household.
“Growing up, we always had soda in our refrigerator. However, as an adult, I never stock it in our house, since I try to avoid refined sugar. Instead, I mainly drink water, hot and iced green tea, and sometimes I’ll have a matcha latte with almond milk and a tiny bit of maple syrup,” she pens on her app.
“Kombucha is one of the only other beverages I drink and when I do, I always feel like it’s a treat. It has the same bubbly effect as soda since it’s naturally carbonated, but kombucha is good for you!” she shares. “It contains natural probiotics that provide your gut with healthy bacteria needed to break down food and help with digestion. Having a good balance of probiotics in your system is important for your gut, but also helps the appearance of your skin. Studies show that good bacteria can help eliminate free radicals that can cause damage to your skin and this will prevent early signs of aging.”
“Of course, not all kombucha is made the same,” she continues. “You really have to look out for companies that might add tons of sugar. I try to buy ones that have less than 8-10 grams of sugar per serving in natural favors like ginger and lemon. Also, if it’s pasteurized, you don’t get the same level of good probiotics—so I go for unpasteurized formulas. For this reason, I only buy certified organic formulas to ensure they are safe to drink. Also, I never drank kombucha when I was pregnant, since doctors say to avoid beverages that are unpasteurized.”
In another post on her website, Kourtney reveals drinking tea and water helps her ward off carb-heavy foods—like the ever-so tempting bread basket—while eating out with her famous family.
“When I go to a restaurant for lunch or dinner, I always order green tea with almond milk and honey, right when I arrive,” she says. “Having a green tea to sip on gives me something to do, so I don’t get tempted to eat the bread basket while I’m waiting.”
As for cheat days, Kourtney indulges on things like gluten-free pizza when she’s on vacation. She writes, “You only live once, so traveling is a time that we cheat here and there—especially when we’re in other countries, where the quality of food can be so much better.”
