Shelley Malil is the actor who played the role of salesman Haziz in monster hit The 40-Year-Old Virgin, co-worker to Steve Carell‘s lead character. Shelley is also the man being held by police on $2 million bail for the stabbing of his former girlfriend Kendra Beebe.

The 35-year-old mother of two was stabbed 20 times while her children witnessed the attack just outside of San Diego. Reportedly, Beebe is currently in critical condition.

According to TMZ, the former flames were spotted on an outing to the gym on Sunday. By Monday, things became violent. Malil was allegedly spotted attacking Beebe. Another man was there, according to a neighbor, attempting to help Kendra. This same neighbor wrapped Beebe in a blanket until paramedics arrived on the scene, quite possibly saving her life.

Malil remains a 43-year-old suspect, arrested on attempted murder charges.
