Sounds like the CW and CBS Paramount Network Television are suffering from a feeling of "9021-uh oh..."
The CW and Paramount aren't distributing advance copies of Beverly Hills 90210 spinoff 90210—which premieres September 2—to television reviewers or reporters. Suspicions are now raised that the nostalgia-driven drama sucks harder than Lindsay Lohan at feeding time.
But the CW claims withholding screeners is a "strategic marketing decision.
"We're not hiding anything," reads a release from the network. Rather, they're "simply keeping a lid on 90210 until 9.02, riding the curiosity and anticipation into premiere night."
As if potential viewers were curious about anything besides whether Tori Spelling would finally snap and claw out Shannen Doherty's asymmetrical eyes. And now that Tori has quit the show because producers are too cheap to pay her fairly, there's no chance of that happening.
Diehard 90210 junkies take comfort: At least one of the old faves is creating entertaining viewing these days...
