Adam Lambert Adds Apologies to His Repertoire
After endangering his career with a risque performance at the American Music Awards last week, Adam Lambert is beginning to wonder if thrusting his crotch in another dude’s face isn’t really the best way to win over the public’s affection.
The American Idol fave and eyeliner enthusiast took to The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday to issue a public mea culpa for his raunch-infused performance of “For Your Entertainment” at the AMAs.
Lambert admitted,
“It was maybe a little too far…I think in hindsight I look back on it and I go, ‘OK, maybe that wasn’t the best first impression to make again, the first second impression.’ I mean, I had fun up there, I had a good time, my dancers had fun and the band had fun.”
The singer added,
“I respect people and feel like people walked away from that feeling disrespected. I would never intend to disrespect anybody. So that was not my intention.”
But hey, don’t get the wrong idea; he wasn’t just junk-thrusting for the sake of junk-thrusting. As Lambert sees it, he was simulating oral sex onstage with a purpose:
“The gay male image in the media tends to be very clique and safe…I was putting on a character, putting on a persona being this kind of rock star, kind of dangerous kind of guy.”

Heck NO he shouldn’t need to apologize. I love Adam and he has nothing to apologize for and I am glad he isn’t. Let’s move forward! Adam is a lovely person, a fantastic performer and all these conservative, narrow minds need to stop making him a tool for their conservative agenda. Adam’s album is great and he is AWESOME!!!

Instead of screaming about Adam Lambert’s performance, perhaps we should use this as an opportunity to talk about that old ugly double standard which still exists, but has turned slightly on its head with respect to sexual orientation. Adam did this country a favor, no apology necessary.

Move on! I’m tired of this topic already. Adam has an amazing voice and he wants to concentrate on music and we want to concentrate on listening to his music. It’s the beginning of a very long and successful career. Let’s let him move on. I’m rushing home from work so I can watch him and listen to him sing on the Ellen Show. Other than his amazing music the 2nd thing I love about him is how he handles himself in interviews – he makes sense, he has integrity and he is obviously very intelligent. So many singers/actors disappoint you when they open their mouths in an interview.

Adam is amazingly talented, no question. But he is still the ‘new kid on the block’ and as such, he hasn’t earned the right to make political statements. Furthermore, what a shame that the crotch thing is what people remember about his performance rather than his excellent musical performance. He is possibly committing artistic suicide by not presenting himself as a musician and leaving the racous gay theatrics at home. Adam is one of the most talented musicians of our time and that talent is what the public wants to see.
Adam Lambert is a disgrace. He can be a very “proud gay man”, but he doesn’t have to perform such vulgairty and trash stats on these shows. He doesn’t even have a good voice. I think he is straight trash and I’m pretty confident that he lost a lot of fans after that performance. Keep it up Adam, and maybe you will destroy your career before it even gets started. Fingers are crossed ;)
