Adam Lambert Sets the Record Straight in ‘Rolling Stone’
In news that will apparently shock absolutely no one, American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert officially comes out as gay in the new issue of Rolling Stone.
“I’m proud of my sexuality,” Lambert tells the magazine. “I embrace it. It’s just another part of me.”
Lambert goes on to note that he decided to audition for American Idol after having a “psychedelic experience” involving “certain funguses” at the Burning Man Festival in Nevada.
And, as long as he’s spilling the beans, he also admits that he developed a crush on Kris Allen, who beat out Lambert for the win on the most recent season of Idol, when the two roomed together at the Bel-Air mansion that served as the Idol contestants’ quarters.
“I was like, `Oh, sh*t, they put me with the cute guy,’” Lambert recalls. “Distracting! He’s the one guy that I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type—except that he has a wife. I mean, he’s open-minded and liberal, but he’s definitely 100 percent straight.”
Un-shocking confessions aside, don’t expect Lambert to become a poster boy for gay rights now that he has both feet out of the closet.
“I’m trying to be a singer, not a civil-rights leader,” Lambert says.

well, the snake in the crotch-ular area is a pretty standard reference to, well, shal we say a guy’s trouser snake. the butterfly in the same area may have some significance that i don’t know, or it could just be “i’m okay with wearing a butterfly on my balls.” i can’t figure out the belt, but i like it.
I think the Media was so obsessed to hear him say it that it has been said and now Adam can now move on with the HUGE career ahead of him – get us that Album Adam!
The smake respresents his hot/wild side and the butterfly resembles his soft side – some may find it easier to call it his feminine/Gay side?
Gay or not, I’m a fan. No worries Adam, you’ll do great. Just don’t get too weird lol if that’s possible.
