Alicia Keys Gathers Celebs to ‘Keep a Child Alive’

The entertainment world’s young elite gathered for the Keep A Child Alive 5th Annual Black Ball at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom Thursday night.

The event raises money to help fight the AIDS crisis affecting children in Africa.

Alicia Keys, 28, who is Keep a Child Alive’s co-founder and global ambassador, gave the evening’s highlight performance.

In an Armani strapless dress and Armani python jacket, Keys compiled a guest list that included Justin Timberlake, John Mayer, and Jessica Alba.

“I bat my eyes and I wink,” she said. “And we have great conversation, and they show up,” she told USA Today.

The guests have exceedingly high opinions about hostess Keys.

“She’s a rare human being. I’m proud to consider her a friend. I’m kind of a creep,” joked Jennifer Aniston‘s second chance man, John Mayer. “It’s about supporting a friend, and it’s about myself feeling strong enough about it to help.”

“What she’s done with this organization, the money and awareness she’s raised, is incredible,” said Jessica Alba, resplendent in Gucci. “Becoming a mom makes you feel the impact of every decision that’s made.”

The whole “possible homewrecker” rumor about Keys seems to have been overshadowed Thursday night, and rightly so.
