America Ferrera in ‘New Moon’?
Add America Ferrera to the long list of actresses who are supposedly up for a role in the Twilight sequel New Moon.
Following in the footsteps of Vanessa Hudgens and Dakota Fanning, the 24-year-old Ugly Betty actress has reportedly auditioned for the movie. Ferrera tried out for the part of Emily Young, fiancée to Sam Uley and second cousin to Leah Clearwater.
“I got to audition for New Moon today! For the role of Emily,” Crazy Days and Nights quotes the outspoken actress and snappy dresser as saying. “The casting director, you fans of the book will be glad to know, has read the books and loves them. And you can tell. His direction was spot on for the character. I loved the books. I would so love to be in the movie!!!”
Seems like a perfectly reasonable match. After all, Ferrera has had experience interacting with monstrous characters before.

i think that america ferrera is a good choice to play emily young in new moon, she is a fantastic actress.
I love America Ferrera and the part needs someone to portray a very good soul, someone who makes people feel at home. Someone you like even with a disfigured face. She would play it great, very relatable. Now they need someone prettier for Leah.
The America referred to in the original CrazyDaysandNights.net post is not America Ferrera but rather America Young as evidenced by the tags at the bottom of the post… This is how misinformation starts.

I WISH the casting directors would cast NATIVE ACTORS for the NATIVE cast in the movie. There are SO many of US who have put our names out there, and have we been called or even talked to? Nope. Hears to WISHING Hollywood would start to cast Natives!!

But… If I can’t have a true Native actress, I’ll take a slice of Sweet America any day.
i hate it when they dont cast us natives to actually play natives. they either use mexicans, puerto ricans, or just girls that dye their hair dark and tan too much. im pretty sure native americans are capable of PLAYING NATIVE AMERICANs!!!!!

i really don’t think she’s right for emily. i’m not sure what her name is -there’s no way i could spell it- but, the woman that plays Muriella on In the Name of the King would be PERFECT for Emily.

I completely agree!!! I think America is beautiful but she is Mexican not native american. I to am Mexican, but to be honest Id rather Emily be someone of color then a “white” person who is trying to look like a Native American.
Yeah i think she WOULD be great for the part, BUT i think it would be NICE to have a NATIVE play the part! AND shes NOT A NATVIE PERSON!!!! Not be mean, but yeah! I think it would be someone, like a real Like the dectior had said that he will TRY to be close the book AS POSSIBLE and that just doesn’t cut it!!! No Offence!

America Ferrera is Mexian-American.. That means she has her own NATIVE in her. She would be a wonder Emily no matter what race she is…

i think they should get an unfamous person for this role but if you dont i think america should play the part of emily america is a great actress she did great in ugly betty and in the sisterhood of the traveling pants she may not have the figure but she is pretty and to me size doesn’t matter america loves twilight and if she really loved it enough she’ll give it her all and do her best and if you want a movie shes the way to go lolzz !!!

You are totally right! Not only should they be using only Native actors for Native roles but this movie could be VASTLY improved with the addition of Eddie Spears! Possibly his brother Michael too… but is that too much gorgeous for one flick?
