Oil rig worker and family man Michael Sarver was shown the door on American Idol last night.
With not even a hint of mercy from the judges, Sarver once again sang "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" before he left the show.
Judge Simon Cowell had already predicted Sarver wasn't going to make it on Wednesday night's episode.
Even Paula Abdul, normally very generous with the encouragement, referred to his performance during Wednesday's Motown-themed show as “Las Vegas lounge-y.”
In an odd turn of events, judges' favorite Matt Giraud joined Sarver in the bottom two, despite consistently positive feedback for his soulful performances.
Sometimes the viewing audience doesn't always see it like the judges do.
Last night's episode also featured performances by past Idol winner Reuben Studdard, Joss Stone (who sang a duet with Smokey Robinson) and Stevie Wonder.
