Amy Winehouse Has Been Burgled!

Jan 30, 2009 at 3:00pm

Amy Winehouse‘s north London home was burglarized early Thursday morning, and thieves made off with numerous valuable guitars, recording equipment and a flat-screen TV, CNN reports.

A neighbor of the “Rehab” singer—who’s currently enjoying an extended vacation in the Caribbean with her new beau, aspiring actor Joshua Bowman—called police after two men kicked in Winehouse’s door at 4 a.m., a spokeswoman for the  Metropolitan Police notes.

Winehouse’s spokesman, Chris Goodman, was philosophical while discussing the break-in. “It’s one of life’s little ironies,” Goodman offered. “Usually, hundreds of paparazzi are outside her home.”

As for how Winehouse is taking the news, Goodman reports that his client is “doing very well and enjoying her time away,” as well as “writing music with another guitar that didn’t get burgled.”

Police say that they have already recovered some of the stolen equipment, though no arrests have been made. Narrowing down suspects will no doubt prove to be a daunting task, as Winehouse is certainly no stranger to the criminal element.

There is some good news for Winehouse today, though; E! Online reports that the singer is included in the just-announced line-up of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, which occurs in Indio, California, from April 17-19.

Winehouse will be performing on a bill that includes Paul McCartney, the Killers, the Cure, Franz Ferdinand, Morrissey and Leonard Cohen. This will mark Winehouse’s first performance in America since last year’s Grammies, where she performed via satellite due to visa problems she’d been experiencing.
