Amy Winehouse Is a Heavy Wheezer

on Jun. 23, 2008 09:10 AM / 5 Comments

Amy Winehouse's father Mitch has told the British press that Amy has been diagnosed with emphysema, and doctors are attempting to wean her off...well let's face it, everything...in a bid to save her singing career.

"With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes her lungs are all gunked up. There are nodules around the chest and dark marks," her dad says.

Mitch says that Amy, who is currently hospitalized, is "eating like a horse" and "covered in nicotine patches."

Winehouse collapsed at her home last week, and her father took her to a London hospital for tests.

"To think this could be my beautiful 24-year-old daughter's life is preposterous. But if drugs mean more to her than breathing properly, then so be it. But the doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs it won't just ruin her voice, it will kill her," he said.

Winehouse also says that Amy's incarcerated enabler husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, has pledged to kick drugs in a bid to support Amy. Sure he has.

Will Winehouse be fit to sing at her next two scheduled appearances, the Nelson Mandela tribute concert in London's Hyde Park on Friday and the Glastonbury Festival on Saturday?

Doubtful, unless she she can put some glitter on the nicotine patches.
