Anne Hathaway Auctions Herself Off for Charity
Anne Hathaway played the disappointed, begrudging wife who realizes her husband is gay in Brokeback Mountain.
In real life, the actress was more than happy to lend a helping hand to the local Los Angeles Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) youth crisis hotline.
L.A.'s Trevor Project staged its 11th Annual Cracked Xmas Fundraiser at the Wiltern Theater on Sunday night.
One major highlight: Auctioning off a date with Rachel Getting Married star Hathaway.
People reports that Anne, 26, announced, "I'm not usually very forward, but I thought if there was ever a crowd for me to do something like this, this is my crowd. So I would like to auction myself off for drinks somewhere fabulous and basically get you totally sh*t faced. Tell me what I'm worth."
Three fans eventually coughed up a cool $12,000 to pound a few back with Hathaway. All proceeds go to the Trevor Project's efforts to aid young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals in need.
"I'm blushing," Hathaway admitted while the bidding was underway. "Wow, I feel really good right now."
It was a high point at the end of a rough year for the actress. Anne's ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri, 30, was sent to prison in October for 14 counts of wire fraud, money laundering and conspiracy.
The pair dated for four years prior to Follieri's arrest, from 2004 to 2008. The actress was grilled on-air by David Letterman for details about their relationship.
She also spent some time with the FBI, but not to the same comedic effect.
