Archuleta and Efron: Heartthrob ‘High School’?
Hollywood is nothing if not about the crossover opportunity. Now David Archuleta is poised to cement his place in teenland—if Disney execs have their way. The powers that be want the Idol runner-up to pop up in the hugely anticipated big-screen High School Musical 3.
The squeaky-clean babyfaced Mormon is a perfect fit for the soon-to-be cineplex juggernaut, which has already filmed scenes in Archuleta’s Utah high school. And wouldn’t he look oh so cute next to Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and the lot?
Problem is, American Idol producers have David locked up at least through the end of the summer Idols Live tour.
But rules are made to be broken, right? Especially if it could mean millions more in box-office dollars? Word is negotiations are under way to free the boy to film his cameo.
“It’ll be a tough fight,” a source tells the National Enquirer, “but insiders say the tricky deal just might be worked out because Disney, Fox and Simon Cowell recognize the fantastic cross-promotion that could generate big buck$$.”
And when it comes to Tinseltown, without exception, ka-ching is always the thing. Stay tuned…
What? David Archuleta does nooooot fit in with the rest of the HSM cast. He is way too sweet and innocent compared to the others. I think he should just stick with the Idol tour
