It’s official. Ashlee Simpson and Fall Out fox Pete Wentz are engaged. Before releasing an official statement, the lovebirds posted this on Pete’s friendsorenemies.com:
THIS JUST IN FROM ASHLEE SIMPSON:
“We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I, and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best. Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes. It means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, and we wanted to be the first to tell you and to hear it straight from us.”
The littlest Simpson had been sporting a “promise ring” since February, which Ashlee said just meant “he hasn’t asked my dad yet.” He must have gotten the chance to seek out papa bear Joe Simpson‘s blessing, as People says both he and mom Tina are “so excited to have Pete as part of [our] family.”
No statement yet from big sis Jessica Simpson, but expect something oozing with sugary platitudes. Meanwhile, elsewhere in town, Jessica Simpson, clutching the arm of football playboy Tony Romo, is cursing the birth of reality TV.
