Ashley Fink: 'I'm the Luckiest Girl in the World'
If you're a hardcore Gleek, you know all about Lauren Zizes (as well her scene-stealing antics). Puck's seven minutes in heaven partner, played by the up-and-coming actress Ashley Fink, is the newest member of New Directions and you should expect to see much more of her -- on and off screen.
Celebuzz recently sat down with the Glee actress and chatted about everything from becoming part of the show, to how the cast celebrated their second consecutive Golden Globes victory.
Believe it or not, Ashley loves the show just as much the devoted audience who watches it:
"I was obsessed with Glee before I was a big part of it and I've steadily been on it for a while. When I got the script [where she joined the Glee club] I texted Chris Colfer and said, 'I think I just joined the Glee club?' I didn't quite believe it at first, I thought I was getting 'Punk'd.'"And despite being part of Glee's inside circle, Ashley finds out about rumors on the Internet -- just like everyone else, "I'll see something on the Internet, like Gwyneth is coming back? This is great!"
The 24-year-old star also commented on some of those other rumors that swirl on the Internet:
"It's like family. And everyone looks at us and says, 'Ew,' because they want the drama. My first scenes on the show were with Lea [Michele] and she was so supportive. I've been on plenty of projects and I've never felt an on-set chemistry like this."Ashley also chatted a bit on how the cast has been celebrating the "best. night. ever." (aka the Golden Globes) and what the night was like for her:
"I can't even. I can't believe this is my life. I'm the luckiest girl in the world. People always ask me, 'Do you know how lucky you are?!' I'm like, 'yes!'And if you didn't already know, Ashley's date to the January 16 soiree was none other than the Golden Globe winning Colfer.
"I was honored to be his date. We had so much fun, and we have fun anywhere we go, but putting us in that environment was crazy. We met so many people, and then Chris won. I was holding his leg under the table the whole time, Dianna [Agron] and I both were, and we said 'When you win, we're going to kiss you on the cheek,' and he said, 'You better go over to Modern Family's table to kiss Eric Stonestreet.' He honestly had no expectations, so when he won, he was just sitting there, and I literally had to pick him up like, 'Baby, you got to go!' Then Jane [Lynch] won, then the show won, it was just crazy. It was just one of those nights that you'll never forget."What did Ashley suggest Chris should do with the trophy? "He should unfasten it and make it a doorknob. So when people use it he can say, 'That is my Golden Globe!'
Ashley also dished on the upcoming "Thriller" number that's going to be featured in the February 6 post-Super Bowl episode:
"It was so crazy, the make-up took hours, and it was a lot of work. We don't do the traditional 'Thriller,' it's mashed up, [with 'Heads will Roll'] but I'm obsessed with it. There was a lot of pressure to do 'Thriller' and we felt it, but it's amazing."And don't worry if you're listening to Glee music on repeat -- Ashley is too, "I'll pull up to the Paramount lot and people are like, 'Really?' And I tell them, 'What?! My iPod is on shuffle!'"
Despite the catchy music and exciting dance numbers, Ashley's favorite part of being part of Glee is how Ryan Murphy manages to take the underdog and make them shine:
"In life, there's so much diversity, and it's not necessarily represented on television. I think Glee is one of the few shows that actually displays the diversity and it's just so inspirational."Don't forget to tune into Glee when it returns on February 6!
