The Beckhams Do Broadway

Despite being a somewhat fishy character, David Beckham is a reliable friend.

The 33-year-old LA Galaxy soccer star and his wife, Victoria Beckham, 34, traveled to New York yesterday to take in a performance of Arthur Miller‘s All My Sons, starring Katie Holmes. Katie, along with her 46-year-old husband, Tom Cruise, is among the Beckhams’ always-expanding circle of celebrity buddies.

The couple hoofed it to the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater with Cruise from Tom’s apartment. Holmes, 29, portrays Ann Deever in the play.

Despite initial reports that the production was a sluggish seller, the play, which officially opened October 16, has turned out to be a blockbuster. The show sold $684,000 in tickets for its first week of preview performances in September.

Does that mean that, unlike certain high-profile Beckam buds, Holmes might have comped the couple their tickets?

After all, the Beckhams are on a pretty tight budget.
