Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson on Taylor Swift: ‘Horrible’
Country music sensation Taylor Swift has amassed millions of fans since releasing her debut album in 2006. But don’t count Chris Robinson among them.
Black Crowes frontman and Kate Hudson ex Robinson has lashed out at the Fearless chanteuse in Nylon Guys magazine (via Contact Music), calling Swift “horrible”:
“I find it embarrassing that adults are like, ‘Taylor Swift is very talented.’ She’s not. She might be cute, but she’s horrible.”
So what’s Robinson’s beef with Swift, who’s so horrible that she’s pretty much won every music award imaginable at the tender age of 20? Apparently, Robinson, 43, feels that Swift and other artists of her generation are mere products of marketing, polished to an inauthentic, sterile sheen by modern studio technology:
“They have stylists who dress them, they make records with producers who play a chord into the computer and it all comes out the same… When you have computers doing it all for you… there’s no individuality. Singing isn’t always about being on key; it’s about emotionality [sic].”

I’ll give her credit for at least trying to write a good song.

i DO like taylor swift, but she hasnt exactly got the most amazing voice, although she is not the worst out there considering she actually knows something about music and can play an actual instrument, unlike some of the auto tuning badasses LOL.

Well said, Chris. I’ve been saying that for quite some time now, but nobody was listening. This girl can’t sing. And when I say she can’t sing, I mean that she sounds way too generic and equally boring. She totally lacks that individuality needed to sell records on real talent alone. She sells because other female teens relate to her lyrics. But make no mistake, there is no emotion to her songs. Writing her own songs doesn’t make her talented, folks. Her writing is indeed horrible, by the way.
At least Britney Spears had a better execution in her songs. They were not only catchy but sexy. They totally conveyed emotion, despite her singing abilities (or lack thereof). I totally grooved to her music, though I never did so in public.
Carry Underwood is much more sophisticated than Taylor Swift in every sense of the word. I also love Kellie Pickler and Lila McCann. Have you ever listened to Lila’s “Go Easy On Me” song? Beautiful!
But back to Ms. Underwood: Carry’s music is not only beautiful, but it is also seducing–very well structured lyrically, vocally and musically. She invokes emotion in every song that she interprets. Now, that’s what I call talent!
Any joker can write their own material. Quality, however, can only be achieved by a few. Taylor Swift conveys the opposite of quality–inferiority. She isn’t very good quite frankly. Why is she famous then, you ask? Deep down you know answer.
At any rate, when Kanye West disrespected her at the VMA’s, I knew that this would help her sell more records, and top the charts longer, out of sympathy. Everyone just seemed to show their support with their wallets and positive feedback, after that unfortunate incident took place.
I only wish that someone more respected in the music industry would have come out and said what Chris Robinson so eloquently stated in that magazine interview. This guy is viewed as a stoner, so there may be little stock in what he says to many people, though he clearly speaks words of wisdom and truth. But celebrities are afraid of criticizing a cute girl for fear of career reprisal.

Yes. Taylor Swift is so overrated. Remember Grammy awards? She was so off-key, I cringed hearing her sing.
Her performances don’t exactly leave me “breathless”.
I’m a fan of the Black Crows, but I must say that Taylor Swift is one of the most, all-around talented people I’ve seen come out in the past few years. And I’m not particularly a fan of pop country.
It’s one thing to deliver a song and make it your own- like George Jones or Elvis did. It’s completely different to write your own material and music and be able to perform it. She does this and I’m immensely impressed by her. She will continue to master her craft as she matures.
Furthermore, because of her talent, disposition and apparently good upbringing, she will have a long career.
Ugh taylor swift has dank music itss completely different from yours you’re not a girl so her music obviously wouldnt friggen appeal to you, some of it’s actually so good go kill yourself youre ugly and your hot ex wife the only reason i know who you even are dumped you f*ck youuu
I think Taylor swift is way way way better then Miley Cyrus and everything she has done so far I’ve liked. I’ve never heard of Black Crows… so i’m not going to judge him on this but he shouldn’t judge someone in the same field show’s that he is low class… like Kanya West.

But you know, he has got no talent beside TRYING to make ohers look bad just so people know you. Hell of , Dead man.

Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Drake, Taylor Swift and a lot of others. We got Danceskills, Not grey hear, The looks, the VOICE and respect for others and the trueth.
