Brad Pitt Fights Ban on Gay Marriage

Brad Pitt announced Wednesday that he will donate $100,000 to help fight Proposition 8, the ballot iniative that would do away with same-sex couples’ right to marry, reports the Los Angeles Times.
“Because no one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8,” the Burn After Reading actor said in a statement.
Brad and wife Angelina Jolie never cease to amaze with their humanitarian efforts.
And then there’s Brad’s latest and greatest act of charity: Dinner with dumped ex-wife Jennifer Aniston.

Fantastic. I couldn’t be more pleased and delighted that Mr. Pitt is involved in something which is so important, not only to the gay community itself but, by immediate extension, to the PFLAG community, and (and the this vital) to the United States itself, where fundamental human rights seem to be in the melting pot at this time. As a writer (mostly gay SF novels) I play in some weird and wonderful scenarios, and what I DON’T want in any way, shape or form, is to see those scenarios coming true. Mr. Pitt: BRAVO. An cheers from downunder.
