Brenda Song: From Disney to ‘The Social Network’
Disney star Brenda Song has come a long way since her sweet-as-pie tweener beginnings.
Disney Channel fans may remember Brenda from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior, but the talented 22-year-old was recently introduced to adult audiences as one of the few female leads in The Social Network.
Originally from Carmichael, California, Brenda moved to Hollywood with her mother when she was six to start her acting career. Like most little girls, Brenda was initially attracted to ballet but later moved on to taekwondo, in which she now holds a black belt. Don’t mess with Brenda!
The actress first hit Hollywood success with her breakout turn as ditzy hotel heiress London Tipton on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody in 2005. Although London is shallow and on the not-so-intelligent side, she was a star-making character thanks to Brenda’s impeccable comedic timing. Watch Brenda steal the show in The Suite Life with Zack and Cody below.
Song continued to play London in The Suite Life on Deck, a spin-off from the original Disney hit. With five years of laughs under her belt, London has become one of the Disney Channel’s longest-running female characters.
In The Social Network, Brenda plays Christy, the nightmare girlfriend to Andrew Garfield‘s Eduardo Saverin. Watch Christy hit on Eduardo and Jesse Eisenberg‘s Mark Zuckerberg below.
After meeting, Christy and Eduardo do some questionable behavior together in the bathroom stall after a night of partying. Later in the film, Christy turns into a mean girlfriend and burns a scarf given to her by Eduardo after her won’t return her calls quickly enough. It’s a far cry from London to Christy, and a great coming-of-age and maturation in Song as an actress.
Starring in a blockbuster like The Social Network is sure to help Brenda get a head start as she transitions from Disney cutie pie to grown-up Hollywood actress. Her talents have already cemented her as an actress to watch out for amongst the Young Hollywood crowd.

I LOVE BRENDA!
GO BRENDA ! :)
Gooooo BRENDA! she’s epic and ”disney channel fans” don’t need to remember her, she’s the star of a lot of stuff on disney channel right now.
dude, whoever wrote this article must have been a past-time disney channel fan.
Cool!!!!
this is really sweet
Congrats to Brenda. She knows how to emerge from being a child to a woman with class unlike other past Disney child stars.
Congrats to Brenda. Jenny, you do realize a lot of people are calling Brenda a whore? The media isn’t because Brenda is 22 years old, thus an adult who is playing a psycho in a movie it’s not like she’s stripping on top of tables like Lindsay Lohan and dressing like a prostitute like Miley Cyrus, Brenda dresses classy, the paparazzi see her, they see class, and her movie is R Rated in most of the world and PG-13 in the USA.
You do realize that if Brenda made a provocative video like Miley Cyrus’ new video, the parents and media would attack her.
Right now, Brenda didn’t do anything wrong. She IS playing a fictional character in a movie, she is an adult. Miley’s new movie role is more provocative than the 22-year-old Brenda’s role, and Miley is only 17. When Brenda was 17, she was a Disney star wearing classy clothes, she didn’t swear, smoke or drink nor does she now.
Over the past month, there have been more Brenda paparazzi pictures than Miley Cyrus. That says a lot, and verifies that eyes are fixed on her. It’s just that Brenda isn’t snorting coke, partying at the tender age of 17 like Lindsay Lohan and Miley Cyrus. Brenda is elegant and classy, her mother has cancer, she’s never been spotted by the paparazzi at a club and she doesn’t even smoke or drink.
While the likes of Lohan hit the club since 17, stripped, Brenda has never been nude. She keeps her clothes and PORTRAYS psychotic characters in movies aimed towards her older audience, teenagers and adults.
the other stars happen to have been the stars with the main spotlight on them it must be easier to grow out of a child role when no one is watchin but when every eye is fixed on you suddenly everything you do to shake off the child star image looks whorey
as if Brenda doesn’t have the main spotlight on her. Your lame excuse is pathetic. Do you see the paparazzi outside of Brenda’s hotel in VANCOUVER? oh wait, no you don’t. You’re too busy fooling yourself.

yeah well brenda happens to have the main spotlight on her so it’s harder for her than those other people.
hail brenda, she’s a true icon.
STUNNING!

You do realize Brenda is in the main spotlight?
I love brenda for so many reasons, and I don’t think she’s a women yet. I look up to her for so many reasons, she’s really amazing.
I’m her #1 fan forever and ever!!! always will love you brenda!! you’re the best role model ever!!!!
please, brenda isn’t stripping in music videos and drinking while driving.. the paparazzi follow her around as much as those girls yet she managed to keep a clean front because she’s not stripping in music videos, showing the world her bra while walking down the most crowded street in New York, and drunk driving.
we, love you brenda! never change. you’re so pretty =) and talented
Brenda is the big thing, she has a number one movie in the box office that beat Inception and all of this year’s hits in the box office holds plus it’s the most critically acclaimed movie of the century, she has the most-watched kids show under her belt and has a lot more accomplishments than every non-singing disney star .

Why must u trash on Miley to make ur Brenda look better? From where I see it , Miley isn’t falling out of clubs half drunk, isn’t going back and forth to rehab. Nor is she being sent back to jail for failing a DRUG TEST
Second of all, I hate the fact that u put Miley in the same cat as Miss Lohan. When A Miss Lohan is an ALCOHOLIC. And her parents were ALCOHOLICS. And 3RD; Miley and Lindsay have both have bad publicity. But most of Miley’s bad publicity comes from WHAT SHE WEARS or some kind of sh*tty photo she took where as MISS LOHAN’s scandals are usually drug and jail rel8ted.
So as u can plainly see, Miley is nothing like Miss Lohan and should never be put into comparison with her EITHER. For all I know, Lindsay would give anything to be where Miley is.
I L.O.V.E. BRENDA!
She was awesome and such a natural! My boyfriend and I love this part so much because it reminds him of me lol lol
She’s perfect! She’s so beautiful ! I love her she’s the best girl ever !

i’ll always love you brenda

I agree my daughter love watching disney Zack and Cody. I would never want them to think that if someone pays you to play a role of a slut it is ok and not demeaning as a woman. It is trashy and I don’t ever want my daughter to look up to her while she was on her knees in a bathroom. I know it is just a movie but, most child stars are responsible for growing up with children that watch them as they grow up
I happen to be a big fan of the Suite Life franchise. When I saw the movie I couldn’t believe that this is the same girl who plays the sweet and funny London Tipton on Disney Chanel. She was able to successfully shed that image with her role in The Social Network.
There aren’t that many female leads in the film because the movie focuses primarily on Mark, Eduardo, and Sean. Brenda’s character didn’t really say or do much in the film, but what little screen time that she does have, she plays to perfection. All of what you see of Brenda in the trailer, is all her screen time in the movie. Regardless, I am glad that she did this film, she really has proved that she has what it takes to succeed in Hollywood and I hope to see her in more blockbuster films in the future.
