Britney and Mel Blow Smoke up Each Other's...Egos

Britney Spears and Mel Gibson, who shared some quality vacation time in Costa Rica in May, further cemented their perfect union last night at a Los Angeles cigar bar, according to People magazine.

The odd couple were spotted at the members-only Havana Club, engaging in a two-and-a-half-hour rap session. "Britney looked like a doll with bright red lipstick," noted a witness. "She looked pretty in new capri jeans [purchased earlier in the day at the Lisa Kline boutique in Beverly Hills, where she also tried on several necklaces], a blue blouse, white shoes and a brown bag."

The onlooker added that the sometime singer was "very quiet" and bore a "serious look on her face as she walked into the Havana Club" shortly before 7 p.m. Well, sure, who wouldn't look solemn as they prepared for a marathon session of the Gospel According to Mel?

The Lethal Weapon star, by contrast, bounded out of his silver Lexus and flashed a roguish grin as he entered the club clutching a "man-purse," presumably filled with leftover Passion of the Christ nails.

Shame on these two. Haven't they heard that smoking can kill a person?

Of course, in some cases, it doesn't kill nearly quick enough.
