Just like the rest of us, recovering pop tart Britney Spears has caught the Idol Gives Back fever, reportedly calling in a donation of $25,000 during the two-and-a-half-hour star-studded broadcast.

"She did it all on her own," a Spears insider tells Life & Style. "She watched the show and cried for like two hours over the children in Africa with malaria. She didn't know much about the disease, so she Googled it. She was horrified to realize kids were dying from mosquito bites."

The show is expected to top last year's grabfest, which raised $76 million for international children's charities.

Now relax, all you bean counters. She reportedly asked dad Jamie before whipping out the Amex. Another step in the right direction—keep it up, Brit-Brit.
