Britney Spears' Driving Skills Going to Trial

Even though Britney Spears' life has been coming together lately, her shaky past still haunts her.

A charge from a hit-and-run with a parked car in August 2007 will land the pop singer in court next month, reports the Associated Press.

Brit's attorney, J. Michael Flanagan, has argued that Britney is the victim of her superstar status and is being targeted by Superior Court Judge James A. Steele.

According to the AP, Flanagan says prosecutors have gone to "unusual lengths to try to keep the case alive, including citing Spears' divorce from ex-husband Kevin Federline."

Britney's lawyer argues that if the star was a regular Jane she would only have to pay a $10 fine and not face criminal prosecution.

It's quite a rough week for Britney to be, uh, Britney.

Poor Britney. Maybe the judge will read Lynne's book, feel sorry for Britney and throw out the case.
