Cast Update: Meet New Man on ‘New Moon’
Welcome to the Volturi tribe, Jamie Campbell-Bower.
20-year-old Jamie has been added to phenomenon New Moon’s fray, cast as Volturi head Caius.
“Shooting has already started, and I’m going over in June,” Campbell-Bower tells the BBC.
“I haven’t read the books before. But it’s a great thing to be a part of, and it did very well last year.”
You don’t say!
You might recognize Jamie from his turn alongside Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd or in Guy Ritchie‘s RocknRolla.
And is he in for the same overwhelming fan response lavished upon one Robert Pattinson?
“I doubt I’ll get the same sort of adulation as Robert – but it’s always nice when people recognize you for your work.”
Jamie is joined by already-announced Volturi Dakota Fanning, and will star alongside returning Twilight members Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Nikki Reed.
What do you think of the addition? Will Jamie make a sufficient Caius?
He’s lovely, although I imagined that the Volturi would be older men, not so young…but anyway, I like him!
Well i would of wish Caius to be kind of older..): and i hope this guy reads the books before shooting the movie..fans are specting alot from the Volturi!!!

I agree..he is good looking..but looks younger than Edward. When I was readin New Moon, I imagined the head of the Volturi as all older men. I don’t know how that will work. I only thought Jane and Alec were younger vampires.

they’ll probably put tons of makeup on him to look the part. Weitz is a pretty good director and im sure theyll fix him up.
I think he’s way to young to be playing this role.I think they could have found someone else for the part.

I think hes a lil young to be playing cauis. They should have picked someone that was a lil older and more acting underneath there belt.
I agree, he seems a little too young, I always pictured them older. I do hope he reads up on his character a little bit, that always helps with a performance. I’m sure though he will still do a good job, he was in Sweeney Todd and did a great job in there so all with be well.

I guess he could work…I imagined a young Malcolm McDowell as Caius, as he were in A Clockwork Orange. And Jamie has some similar features.
hey everyone, how about you all just shut up? seriously, they didn’t just decide to cast him because he’s handsome. he obviously must have some acting talent. think you can do better? well shut up, because you have pretty much no say whatsoever in the casting. and everyone was bitching before about rob pattinson, saying he didn’t look like edward or whatever, and what happened? he’s a big freaking studmuffin now, which i totally agree with. frankly, i’m just glad that they cast an amazing actor to play such a part.

ok i take back my comment. if you see the pics of him with freaky makeup he looks good enough to play caius.
I don’t like the fact he hasn’t read the books he needs to read them. He looks really young i imagened someone a little older looking and more acting experiance, but with the right make up he might just be able to pull it off they need to pick good actors if they want the movie to be successful.
vamps dont age. of course the volturi will be young. but when i saw this pic i did think he would be playing alec. he might be alittlw too young
I agree that he is way to young for the part. I imagined someone more like Vigo Mortensen. This guy is cute but looks younger than everybody else in the movie.

i think he’ll be good for Caius. I think they definitely need to go for a young15 year old for Alec. Of all the choices I’ve seen on line, only Alexander Conti fits the bill, plus he is Italian and looks enough like Dakota to be her twin or brother. they are fraternal not identical. Just cast Conti!!!
