Singer-songwriter John Mayer, despite some unconventional hobbies and a revolving door of girlfriends, has become an award-winning musician with a voracious fan base. John, born October 16, 1977, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, became fascinated with the guitar after watching Back to the Future. His first musical influence was the late blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughn. John attended Boston’s Berklee College of Music, and relocated to Atlanta in 1998, where he built the framework for his first album Room for Squares, which was released in 2001. The album spawned the singles ‘No Such Thing’ and ‘Your Body Is a Wonderland,' which earned a Grammy in 2003 for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
The hits - and accolades - were just beginning. His next two albums Heavier Things and Continuum brought more success and four more Grammys. John is an avid blogger and frequently pops up at New York’s Comedy Cellar to try stand-up. He appeared in a memorable sketch on Comedy Central’s Chapelle's Show and has started his own clothing and accessory line, called JMltd. With all of this activity, John shouldn’t have time for a love life, but tell that to Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson, Minka Kelly and, most recently, Jennifer Aniston. Of course, John sends lots of love to the little people; if he didn’t, he would have never donned a lime green Borat-style thong on his fan cruise, dubbed the Mayercraft Carrier. Or would he?
Here are some fun facts about the breathy-voiced singer:
When he was 17, Mayer suffered from a cardiac arrhythmia which sent him to the hospital for several days. The night he got back home, he wrote his first lyrics reflecting on the experience.

He has several tattoos, which include "Home" and "Life" on his arms, "77" on his chest, and several other designs and shapes all over the rest of his upper body.
He collects watches, timepieces and sneakers—which he estimates he has more than 200 pairs of.
He is currently dating actress Jennifer Aniston.
