With her classic looks, it’s no surprise that Julia Stiles first burst on the scene in a modern version of a Shakespeare classic. Julia O'Hara Stiles, born March 28, 1981, in New York City, started acting at age eleven, performing with New York's La MaMa Theatre Company. After guest spots on TV series such as Ghostwriter and Chicago Hope and made-for-TV movies Before Women Had Wings and The 60s, Julia became impossible to ignore with 10 Things I Hate About You, a modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, where Julia’s icy character Kat Stratford was wooed by the late Heath Ledger. Julia’s next Bard-inspired projects, O and Hamlet didn’t fare quite as well.
