Sofia Vergara was born July 10, 1972, in Barranquilla, Colombia. The actress is best known for her role on the ABC sitcom Modern Family, for which she was nominated for both an Emmy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Sofia started out as a model; her first gig came when she was 17 and was offered a Pepsi commercial that was broadcast across Latin America. She broke onto the American scene with her appearance in the season-four opener of the hit series Entourage. She also appeared on the ABC drama Dirty Sexy Money. The actress was married in Colombia, had a child and divorced, before she was 20. She was treated for thyroid cancer in 2002.
