Alanis Morissette was born June 1, 1974, in Ontario, Canada. She is a singer-songwriter and actor. Her debut album, Alanis, was released in 1991; a year later, her second album, Now Is the Time, was released. But it was the 1995 release of her third album, Jagged Little Pill, which caused her career to skyrocket. The album won Grammys for Album of the Year and Best Rock Album, and the song “You Oughta Know” won Grammys for Best Female Rock Performance and Best Rock Song. In the course of her career, Alanis has won seven Grammy Awards and sixteen Juno Awards. Her seventh and latest album, Flavors of Entanglement, was released in 2008. Alanis has also appeared in the popular TV shows Sex and the City and Weeds. In 2002, she began dating actor Ryan Reynolds; the two got engaged, but ended their engagement in 2007. Alanis married Mario Treadway on May 22, 2010, and in August 2010 announced that she was pregnant with her first child.
