Alicia Keys


Alicia Keys was born Alicia Augello Cook on January 25, 1981, in New York, New York. She is a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, musician and actress who is best known for the songs “Fallin,” “If I Ain’t Got You” and “Empire State of Mind.” She began expressing her passion for music at age 7, when she started playing the piano; at 14, she wrote her first song. In 1999, Alicia signed with J Records. Her debut album, Songs in a Mirror, won five Grammy Awards and made her the best-selling new artist of 2001. In 2003, she released her second album, The Diary of Alicia Keys, which won four Grammys. Shortly thereafter, she released her first live album, Unplugged, after which she released two more albums, As I Am and The Element of Freedom. Alicia has made many appearances in television series and films, including Charmed, Smokin' Aces, The Nanny Diaries and The Secret Life of Bees. In 2009, Billboard Magazine placed Alicia at number five on their Artists of the Decade list, and in 2010, VH1 ranked her at number 100 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Alicia married record producer Swizz Beatz on July 31, 2010, and the two are expecting a child together.
