Art Garfunkel was born November 5, 1941, in Forest Hills, New York. He is a singer and actor who is best known for being a member of the award-winning musical duo Simon & Garfunkel. Simon & Garfunkel released their first album, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M., in 1964, and it soon went platinum. They subsequently released four more studio albums, all of which went multi-platinum. Their biggest hits include “The Sounds of Silence,” “I Am a Rock,” “Cecilia” and “Mrs. Robinson,” the latter of which was featured in the film The Graduate. Art eventually pursued a solo career; his debut solo album, 1973’s Angel Clare, went gold. He has since released nine other solo studio albums, the most recent being 2007’s Some Enchanted Evening. In the course of his career, he has won five Grammys and has also acted in films such as Catch-22, Carnal Knowledge, Bad Timing, Boxing Helena and The Rebound. Art married second wife Kim Garfunkel in September 1988. The couple has two children together.
