Ashanti Douglas


Ashanti Douglas was born October 13, 1980, in Glen Cove, New York. She is a recording artist and actress whose 2002 debut album, Ashanti, had the most opening-week sales of any album by a female artist and eventually went multi-platinum. She has since released three more studio albums, two of which—Chapter II and Concrete Rose—went platinum. Ashanti holds the distinction of being the first female singer to simultaneously have both the number one and number two spots on Billboard’s Hot 100. Her best-known singles include “Foolish” and “Rock wit U.” In 2005, Ashanti made her film debut in Coach Carter and subsequently starred in John Tucker Must Die and Resident Evil: Extinction. She has also made television appearances on Las Vegas, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and All That.
