Avril Lavigne was born on September 27, 1984, in Ontario, Canada. Avril is a singer-songwriter who began her career at age 17. Her 2002 debut album, Let Go, went multi-platinum and contained the platinum singles “Complicated” and “Sk8er Boi.” It also made her the youngest female solo artist to hit number one in the U.K. Her second album, Under My Skin, was released in 2004, and her third album, The Best Damn Thing, came out in 2007. Her most recent number-one hit was “Girlfriend,” which went multi-platinum in 2007. So far, she has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. She has also won many international Kids’ Choice and MTV Video Awards for her work. Avril married Sum 41 guitarist Deryck Whibley on July 15, 2006, but they divorced in 2009. Avril’s fourth studio album is set to be released in 2011.
